Towards Algorithmic Solidarity
Goldsmiths, Univ. of London
1. There is no transparency, only ways
of seeing;
2. The new way of seeing is algorithmic and predictive;
3. Machine learning moves us from 'seeing like a state' to 'seeing like
a secret state';
4. Cultural representation of this has hardly begun (it's not 1984);
5. There is as yet no counter-seeing or algorithmic solidarity, only
cryptographic obfuscation.
